Not Slow

The past 2 weeks have been interesting.  We were traveling to meet with old friends, family and to speak in home places.  In the mist of this my husband committed to go to Osh, not Osh Kosh be gosh but the place on the other side of the globe.  To look, pray and assess.  He comes home tonight, the night of the 4th, the night we celebrate our country’s independence and freedom.

He is returning from a place where hatred erupted in unrestrained violence. A tense peace has been made. Ironic, the phrase a tense peace.  Perhaps a ceasing of hostilities would better express the arrangement.

I continue to watch world events at home and abroad.  My heart is sad but knowing that there is hope.  Only the hope from the Prince of Peace will be the answer to the hate.  It will be and is a huge struggle to give up old habits of thought, to look at people as those who are also loved. For us here or there. This is a struggle many believers engage in every day.

My prayer is both global and personal for those who do not know the Prince of Peace.  Which scripture to read? There are so many choices. It is reflective of God’s heart for His creation, for the people He want fellowship with to come to Him in worship and thanksgiving.

He has gone to radical action to demonstrate His intentions, His commitment, His Love. To His Son whose death on the cross is almost indescribable.  The love given by The Death is unsurpassed.  Risky but not reckless.  Unexpected but not unintentional.

When I am overcome with the wait I go to a verse memorized years ago.

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. 2 Peter 3:8-1

About chinamom3078

I am a woman who loves Jesus who loved me first. Prone to wander and distraction is common for me as I seek to reflect Him in my daily life. I am wife, mom, and grandma who has lived on 3 continents in 26+ apartments, townhouses, military housing, suburbs and now a 200 plus year old farm house. Preparing and hosting meals for the hundreds who have passsed through our home has been a joy and blessing to our family as we listened and shared over meals, coffee, light nights and Bible studies. A rich life! I have reached the age to feel qualifies to be an ”older woman” (as in Titus) even though I feel far from old and have plenty of room to grow each and everyday. And my joy is to teach Bible studies and help train other women to lead well.
